Nomination Committee Report 2017
The Friends in Need Food Bank Society will be holding its election for board members at the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for October 12, 2017. As per the Society’s Constitution & Bylaws, there needs to be a minimum of five directors or a maximum of nine directors. The term of service is two years.
We currently have three directors returning to fulfill the second year of their current term:
Joanne Foote Healthcare worker for 40 years, Chair of FRANAS
Jonie Lagrange Bookkeeper, Self Employed
Laurissa Rasmus Real Estate career since 2006, foodbank volunteer
The following seven nominees have put their names forward to fill the remaining six positions and will be on the ballot for voting purposes. They include four present directors who wish to stand for another two year term:
Ineke Boekhorst Executive Director, Downtown Maple Ridge BIA
Robert Cuddeford Lawyer
Lynda J. Lawrence Real Estate Consultant, Lone Palm Management
Brian Timmins Creative Director, Orange Frog Creative
And three new candidates that have put their names forward to join the board:
Kevin McArthur: Foodbank volunteer, group facilitator, pastoral support, Director and Life Skills group facilitator for the Hope for Freedom Society. Kevin enjoys working with people and believes that with support and encouragement individuals are able to identify and address barriers in their life.
Gwen O’Connell: Has been a long time supporter of Friends in Need and conducts a large fundraising project annually for this group. Gwen is a past director for the Friends in Need Foodbank, a director for The Hospice Society, Pitt Meadows Day Committee, held many positions including president, amongst other activities.
Kim Dumore: Past local business owner. Enjoys working with kids and helping others in need. Chair of the DPAC, Kiwanis member, volunteer at Cythera Thrift Store. Kim has been a supporter of Friends in Need for years, donating goods, money and time. Kim created a Breakfast and Snack program for FIN.
