Mission
Statement
The Friends In Need Food Bank Society exists to provide for the hungry in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows , to inform and refer when needed and
to raise the awareness concerning hunger issues.
Who We Are
The Friends in Need FOOD BANK was founded in 1989 by two women in Pitt Meadows, who saw the need to assist the hungry in their community. Since that time, Friends has grown from a basement operation to a 3200sq ft warehouse in Maple Ridge and a secondary distribution depot in Pitt Meadows.
The food bank distributes to over 600 families and singles in a month. As well it assists 7 community agencies to provide food and nourishment to those who are hungry. The food bank receives over 105,000 kilograms of food donations each year. These are donations from local groceries, bakeries, retailers and community members.
Friends in Need are a member of the CAFB-British Columbia. It abides by their Code of Ethics and does not promote door to door or telephone solicitation. We depend solely on the generosity of our community and its members. | |
