Our Programs

Programs Our Food Bank is expanding in client numbers and programs. We currently offer several program at our Maple Ridge Depot and are actively expanding our Pitt Meadows location. Each program runs on the dedication of our volunteers and sponsorship.

Hamper Delivery

Our Hamper delivery program is a home delivery service offered to clients who are unable to pick up their hampers from our depots. This program is offered to clients who have a range of developmental disabilities, physical disabilities or who are seniors.

The Friends In Need Food bank currently has 20 registered clients on our hamper delivery service. Currently, Envision Financial staff based in Maple Ridge, volunteer their time to deliver hampers to terminally ill, severely disabled and elderly clients. To qualify for our hamper delivery program, you must be a registered client at our food bank. Each client must provide medical validation from a medical doctor.

Our clients currently registered on the hamper delivery program rely heavily on our help. We currently have hundreds of seniors in our community who would benefit from our delivery program. Unfortunately, we do not have the volunteer capacity or the delivery trucks to support this growing demand. We currently are in desperate need of transportation vehicles which would allow us to provide for hundreds of elderly people in our community. If you or your company have a desire to donate time or transportation please contact (604) 466-FOOD or email us.

Black Bond Books- "Feed The Mind"
A vital part of our Food Bank is our Black Bond Books, Feed The Mind program. Our local book store, Black Bond Books, donates books for our clients and their families to take home. Feed The Mind is a vital part of our organization which allows low-income families to take home educational and fun books. Clients have the opportunity to take home reading material Monday-Thursday during depot hours.

The Friends In Need Food Bank is currently looking to expand our Feed The Mind book program. If you have any books or wish to purchase books to fill our shelves, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations of reading material can be dropped off at our head office between 8:30am-12:30pm Monday to Thursday.
